Precaution of the man
Men over the age of 45 are entitled to an annual “male check-up”. The statutory screening includes inspection and palpation of the external genital organs, end-darma palpation to examine the prostate, examination of local lymph nodes and advice on the results of the examination.
Screening for colorectal cancer
Women and men over the age of 50 are entitled to annual screening. Screening includes an examination for invisible (occult) blood in the stool. From the age of 55, a choice can be made between two colonoscopies at intervals of 10 years OR a test for invisible (occult) blood in the stool every two years.
Early detection of abdominal aortic aneurysms
Ultrasound examination can detect a bulge in the abdominal aorta. This bulge is called an aneurysm. It is most likely to occur in people over the age of 65 and is much more common in men than in women. It does not cause any symptoms. However, the artery can rupture at this point. Such a tear is life-threatening. For this reason, the health insurance company pays for a one-time ultrasound examination for men over the age of 65 for early detection.
Individual precaution
For private patients and self-payers, a need-oriented and medically reasonable preventive examination with a larger scope is possible after a consultation.
